Guides, Brownies, Rangers and Adult members now all make the same Promise. This promise is renewed as girls progress through the movement. There are also EIGHT Guide Laws, instead of the ten we have had in the past.
I promise,
With the help of my God, to be true to myself,
to do my best to help my country,
and to live by the Guide Law.
As a Guide I will try to:
*be honest and trustworthy,
*be friendly and cheerful
*be a good team member
*be responsible for what I say and do
*respect and help other people
*use my time and resources wisely
*face challenges and learn from experiences and
*care for the environment

At Guides there are two main challenge levels; Senior Guide and Guides Aotearoa. For more information on the Guide programme have a look at the GirlGuiding New Zealand website
We are big group of about 35 girls aged 10 -13. A lot of us have been Pippins and Brownies before coming to Guides. We enjoy cooking (and eating), crafts and camping. At the beginning of 2005 we split our senior patrol off so they could concentrate on completing their Guides Aotearoa Awards. They met on a different night to us for the first part of the year, and subsequently formed a Ranger unit. We began a new senior patrol for 2005 and one of those girls has completed her Guides Aotearoa Award too and the other has almost finished - so we have had a great year in that respect. We have three awesome leaders who run some really cool meetings for us. We have done a lot of cooking in preparation for Camp Cook assessments and completed a variety of patches and badges. We had a great camp at the beginning of 2005 and lots of us went to the District Camp as well which was a great experience
We are a smaller unit - but growing fast, a lot of us were also Pippins and Brownies before we came to Guides. We meet once a week, and enjoy games, crafts, outdoor activities, cooking, and having fun. We went to Laser Force for our end of term outing and had a great time. We also went rock wall climbing again as a Father's Day activity. The Dad's all seemed to have a good time belaying us up and down the walls and some even managed to have a turn themselves. Some of us went go-karting too which was a new challenge. We have three great leaders. One helps with the behind the scenes stuff more than at each meeting but they are all important to us. Some of us went to the District Camp in November and had a great time. We are looking forward to lots more fun in 2006.
